A creative community project born on the Mid North Coast — and growing stronger every season.

Drawn From Here is a celebration of creativity, connection, and the stories that shape us. Each year, we invite people of all ages and artistic backgrounds across the Mid North Coast to explore their creativity through the pages of an A5 art journal — and in 2025, we launched a fresh new rhythm.

This time, we’ll begin in August and gather to exhibit our shared work in February, marking a creative summer stretch of journaling, reflection, and self-expression.

Whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time, collaging with scraps and stories, or refining your style with inks and watercolours, Drawn From Here is a space where your creativity belongs. Each journal becomes a deeply personal collection of marks, textures, words, and images — a visual thread in the larger tapestry of our region’s creative voice.

Over the course of six months, participants work independently in their journals, attend optional Create & Connect evenings, and share their journey with others in our welcoming, grassroots creative community. You’ll find encouragement, inspiration, and maybe even a few new friendships along the way.

The project culminates in a professionally curated exhibition hosted at Sunset Framing & Gallery, where every journal is displayed in full — a raw, beautiful archive of artistic exploration and shared experience. From delicate sketches to bold abstracts, from inner reflections to place-based storytelling, each book offers a unique window into the life and imagination of its maker.

Drawn From Here is more than an art project. It’s a community movement. A space to explore identity, place, and possibility. A chance to make something that matters — to you and to us.
