Welcome to Drawn From Here, an annual celebration of creativity and community on the Mid North Coast!
At Drawn From Here Project, we believe in the transformative power of art to connect, inspire, and uplift. Our project invites residents of all ages and skill levels to embark on a journey of artistic exploration through the pages of their very own A5 art journal. What begins as a blank canvas soon becomes a vibrant tapestry of individual stories, dreams, and expressions.

With each stroke of the brush and every splash of color, participants bring their unique perspectives to life, weaving together a rich mosaic of creativity that reflects the diverse talents of our creative community. From timeless pen sketches to vibrant watercolor abstracts, scenic landscapes painted in acrylic to intricately crafted decoupage and mixed media expressions, the possibilities are as boundless as the imagination.

But Drawn From Here is more than just an art project; it's a vibrant community of like-minded individuals united by a shared passion for creativity and connection. Through workshops, "create & Connect events and the grand finale, the exhibition of journals, we foster a supportive environment where artists can learn, grow, and collaborate with one another. Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner taking your first steps on the creative path, you'll find a warm welcome and a wealth of inspiration here.

Our annual exhibition at Sunset Framing and Gallery is the culmination of months of dedication to the practice of art and creative exploration. It's a chance for participants to share their art with the wider community and for visitors to be inspired by the talent and imagination on display. From intricate sketches to bold abstracts, each artwork tells a story and invites viewers to see the world through new eyes.

History

Community meets creativity

Drawn from Here was established in 2018 by Illustrator and Designer, Katherine Appleby with assistance and support from Sunset Gallery Arts Manager Cherie Morton and was officially opened by Leslie Williams MP , Kathrine came up with Drawn From Here with the aim of connecting local creatives of all levels and varieties of skill and medium, and giving them an opportunity to showcase the unique diversity and styles within our local arts community.

In 2020/2021 Katherine handed over the hosting of Drawn From Here to project Sponsor Sunset Gallery as she pursued an adventures opportunity that arose for her illustration and design career in Canberra, as a global pandemic hit Sunset Gallery jumped into the role with enthusiasm and has relished the chance to further support the Mid North Coast creative arts community by hosting and running Drawn From Here, Sunset Gallery have some fun and new ideas to add to the existing Drawn From Here Project in the next few years.
